I purchased the 40cal/cm2 Hood with Cooling System and Lamp. This hood is a hazard risk category 4, and is made of double-layer Westex ultrasoft construction. The hood is manufactured by SteelGrip.
I was very pleased with the new features, including the battery powered cooling system and the battery operated head lamp. These two features made all the difference for me. The head lamp and the tinted lens with anti-fog coating helped me to see more clearly, where I have experienced impaired vision in the past.
The fan kept me cool while I was working. I happened to be on the job with someone who had a regular suit with no light or fan and he had to take a break every five minutes. I was able to work for much longer periods of time and was also able to see areas where he was experiencing very impaired visiosn.
If you are in the market for a new hood I definitely recommend this hood. Remember, NFPA 70E requires the entire body to be covered, so don't forget that bib overalls and jacket must be worn with the hood.
