By establishing safe work practices and making sure employees know what personal protective equipment (PPE) to wear on the job, you can protect your employees from arc flash danger. OSHA requires that employees know the different voltage/shock hazards and it is important that these hazards be communicated through warning labels and employee training. Over the next few weeks we will take a look at the different Hazard Risk Categories, and the appropriate PPE for each, starting this week with Hazard Risk Category 0.
To remain safe when the Hazard Risk Category is 0, employees must wear:
•Long-sleeve shirt (non-melting, natural fiber)
•Long pants (non-melting, natural fiber)
•Safety glasses
•Hearing protection
•Leather gloves
