Intense heat, blinding light and explosive pressure are all characteristics of an arc flash explosion.  To best illustrate the example above, think of all of the power that runs your plant being concentrated and exploding at one particular point. The fast-moving pressure wave can send loose material such as pieces of equipment, metal tools, and other objects flying, injuring anyone standing nearby.

Shrapnel, noise and injury follow this dangerous explosion. An enormous amount of concentrated radiant energy explodes outward from the electrical equipment, spreading hot gases and melting metal, resulting in death or severe radiation burns. The explosion also creates pressure waves that can damage hearing or brain function and a flash that can damage eyesight.
